Calling all Halloween-loving Ham radio operators! Get ready for a thrilling and creative way to celebrate the spooky season with the Halifax Amateur Radio Club’s HARC-o-Ween SSTV Extravaganza. This event promises to be a ghoulishly good time for Hams of all experience levels, running until Halloween Eve.

Event Highlights:

1. Transmit Your Halloween Spirit: Embrace the Halloween spirit by transmitting your most spine-chilling, eerie, and bewitching images via Slow Scan Television (SSTV). Share your haunted house decorations, creepy costumes, menacing pumpkins, and other frightful delights with fellow Hams.

2. Hunt for your Haunting Collection: To earn the coveted HARC-o-Ween SSTV award, you’ll need call CQ on SSTV images and transmit your frightful, creepy image on digital Ham frequencies.  Then you need to receive five other hams of HARC-o-Ween SSTV images.  Then submit a log record to HARC of the five images captured during the event.

3. Bonus Award for Members: As a special treat for HARC members, we’re offering a bonus award opportunity. Have your Halloween-themed image featured on the FTP club pages of various SSTV sites, extending your reach to Ham radio enthusiasts worldwide. It’s a unique chance to showcase your creativity to a broader audience.

How to Participate:

1. Mark Your Calendar: The HARC-o-Ween SSTV Extravaganza will kick off on Friday and run through Halloween Eve, Get your radio equipment ready and your spooky images prepared.

2. Transmit and Receive: Tune in to the digital Ham frequencies and start transmitting your Halloween-themed SSTV images. Keep an ear out for incoming transmissions and collect images from fellow participants. Remember to include the HARC logo in your images for them to be counted.

3. Connect and Celebrate: Join the HARC-o-Ween SSTV Extravaganza for a weekend filled with spooky camaraderie, Ham radio fun, and a shared love for Halloween. Share on social media with the Hashtag #HARC-O-WeenSSTV

4. The contest starts this Friday and ends at midnight on Halloween night.  Contact logs can be submitted to events@halifax-arc.org. With date, time and callsigns listed.
