PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE for March 2022
Good evening members and guests of the Halifax Amateur Radio Club. I have just signed off for the night having worked the ARRL DX INTERNATIONAL SSB CONTEST all day. I am at the 150 contact level and losing my voice quickly. What a great event and good training aid for those who want to be net controllers in the future. This is also a good opportunity to get your 100 country DXCC Award as the bands today were wide open.
GOOD NEWS – COVID 19 rules are coming off on March 21/22, there will still be some locations that will require masks or distance but for the most part we are getting back to some version of NORMAL. Having said that, John Bignell is looking at our Legion location once again for our FLEA MARKET and the date is June 4. Dig out all your surplus equipment and get ready to update your current gear with a possible bargain. A great way for our new hams to get started in the hobby with good used gear.
Field Day in June is also looking better and we are seeking locations as well as a coordinator to run this event. Once again stay tuned for more info.
With cruise ships scheduled for this summer (200 or so), we may get back into the Museum of the Atlantic, so again, things are looking up. Dick, VE1AI will be looking for support for this event if it goes as planned.
As an update to the meeting – nothing has changed as of this writing and is shown in the business portions of the meeting. I am waiting on the rules that may apply to us if and when we hold a meeting at the club – IN APRIL OR MAY eg. Numbers – spacing – and masks from HRM. BE READY
Well, there is nothing more to report for now, so I will say 73 and wish you all to be safe, get on the air and better yet – have fun with your station.
De VA1CC, Brian – President – HARC
