Youth on the Air (YOTA) Event 2024 in Halifax: Calling All HARC Members for Support!

Excitement is building as Halifax prepares to host the prestigious Youth on the Air (YOTA) event in 2024! This week-long camp, taking place from July 14-19, will bring together young amateur radio operators from across the Americas, fostering the next generation of radio enthusiasts and leaders.

As members of the Halifax Amateur Radio Club (HARC), we have a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of this event. Our club’s involvement is crucial in ensuring that the setup runs smoothly, providing a welcoming and well-organized environment for the participants.

What is YOTA? Youth on the Air is an international initiative aimed at engaging young people in amateur radio. The camp offers a variety of activities, including hands-on workshops, operating sessions, and social events, all designed to enhance skills, knowledge, and camaraderie among young hams.

How Can You Help? We need volunteers to assist with several key tasks, including:

  • Antenna Setup: Help erect and fine-tune antennas for optimal performance during the camp.
  • Station Setup: Assist in setting up radio stations, ensuring all equipment is functioning properly.

Your involvement will not only ensure the event’s success but also provide an opportunity to inspire the next generation of amateur radio operators.
